Guess who’s back? The flannel!

But not just the flannel, they’ve been joined by the whole gang – reusable makeup and nail polish remover pads, shower mitt, muslin…

When I was growing up flannels were the norm but over time it’s started to become possible to buy single-use wipes for everything – make up remover, kitchen cleaner, handwash, the list goes on. Products that often aren’t the best for your skin and also go to landfill and last for years before they break down but still leave their trace in our land and sea.

It’s time to turn back to the habits of our youth but with products that have benefited from development over time. Ditch the throwaway wipes and say hello to reusable and recyclable cloths and pads that do right by your skin and the planet.

What are the options?

The common alternatives to a single-use wipe, are ones made from cotton or bamboo, giving a reusable and biodegradable solution. A more conscious choice that will work well with your preferred products.

We work with brands that use 100% Organic Cotton which means the cotton has been grown, sourced and manufactured to ensure that the highest environmental and welfare standards have been met. Bamboo has the added benefit of being naturally antibacterial which helps keep both your skin and the pad clean and free from bacteria.

Why do we love reusable cloths and pads?

For many reasons!

  • Gentle on your skin – cotton and bamboo cloths are by their nature super soft on your skin
  • Sensitive skin friendly – as they don’t contain any other ingredients then as long as you’re OK with cotton and bamboo they’ll work for you, along with any products you choose that are good for your skin condition and type
  • Kind to the environment – looked after well they can last for a long time and when they do come to the end of their life they can be composted or recycled with other fabric
  • The flexible option – they come in many shapes, sizes and options so you can choose the ones that will suit you best and even if you need to change the products you use over time you can keep washing and reusing the cloths and pads to use with them.

How do you care for your reusable cloths and pads?

Most can be rinsed between uses under the tap, using soap if required and then when needed washed in the washing machine. Depending on what you use them for that might be after every use or every week for example. Try to leave them to dry naturally.
